William H. Taft Elementary School
The Collective Empowerment Group (CEG) expanded its community outreach and support by adopting William H. Taft Elementary School located in Mt. Auburn for the 2016 – 2017 school years. Without hesitation, CEG members graciously gave their time and money. Donations in the amount of $2000 were collected from the member churches and Strategic Business Partners. On Monday, August 15, 2016 CEG members delivered a van load of requested back-to-school supplies for the students and parents of Taft Elementary. It should be noted that these were not one time donations, but an ongoing effort to support Taft Elementary School throughout the school year.
The Cincinnati Chapter of the Collective Empowerment Group’s mission is to establish partnerships with churches, businesses and other financial institutions that impact and empower our community. According to Eugene Ellington, President of the Collective Empowerment Group and alum of Taft Elementary, “this is an opportunity to expand on our mission of community and economic development by adopting a local school. It’s our way of supporting students, parents and the teachers by supplying much needed and costly school supplies and other necessities throughout the year.”
Dr. Jonathan Brown, Principal of Taft Elementary and his staff were extremely grateful for CEG’s support. “We truly appreciate the work and vision of CEG. For us and for CEG, this is not just a community project. It is an investment in our students and in their futures. It is crucial and important that our students know their community believes and has faith in them.”
